National Social Work Month

March is National Social Work Month. For many, this does not have too much meaning or significance. For us at Heart of Adoptions, Inc., this is a HUGE month. Our Social Workers are the ones that create hundreds of loving and permanent families. Our Social Workers work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy and the weeks after. Our Social Workers spend hours getting to know families that are going through the home study process. They are truly the backbone of our agency.

We also work alongside Social Workers from other areas of the adoption journey to make the process as cohesive as we can for the adoption triad. We work with Social Workers at hospitals, pregnancy clinics, in the DCF system, and other adoption agencies. We all have the same purpose – provide children with a loving, permanent, caring household.

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about National Social Work Month –

Why celebrate National Social Work Month?

Social Workers are essential to the community’s well-being. They help individuals address personal and systemic barriers.  They confront some of the most challenging issues facing individuals, families, communities and society and forge solutions that help people reach their full potential and make our nation a better place to live. They affect positive change within our communities. National Social Worker Month is a month to recognize the positive contributions made and celebrate the Social Workers you know!

How should I celebrate National Social Worker Month?

Reach out to the Social Workers that you know and thank them for their hard work and contribution to our community. A gift is nice but recognizing the hard work that they do each and every day will go a long way.
